Pastor Jeffrey L. Johnson, II (affectionally known as Pastor J) answered the call to preach the Gospel at the age of nine at the Fourth Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX. Throughout his early years in ministry, it was evident that a special anointing was on his life, as he was often told that he would pastor someday.
Pastor Johnson enlisted into the United States Air Force in 2006. In 2008, while stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., Pastor Johnson met the love of his life Lady Octavia. They were later married in March of the following year. Together, they are the parents of three beautiful daughters Kaniya Deja Moraye, Jadae Ruth, and Olivia Nicole.

After transitioning to Langley AFB (Hampton, VA) in 2012, Pastor Johnson heard the voice of God saying it was time to plant Refuge Christian Church, the vision that God had birthed in him years prior. On October of 2012 Pastor Johnson and his wife stepped out on faith and opened up their home to host weekly bible studies.  On September 1, 2013, Refuge Christian Church and Ministries held its first Sunday service in Hampton, VA. On June 10, 2018 after almost five years of ministry, Pastor J handed the baton to Pastor John Santiago.
On February 7, 2021 Pastor J answered the call from Macedonia Baptist Church to become the third pastor of this historic church. Pastor J is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership.

Pastor J is often described as charismatic, passionate, humble and an out of the box thinker. He is a true servant of God who is concerned about God's people and is devoted to assisting them in living a life that is pleasing unto God. It is apparent that the Lord has orchestrated every step of the ministry afforded to him. His love for God's people is beyond reproach and he truly believes in encouraging people to JUST BE.
